Music Information Survey
We invite you to participate in a research study being conducted
by investigators from the University of Iowa.
The purpose of the study is to understand the information needs and
behavior of the members of the music department at the University of Iowa.
If you agree to participate, we would like you to complete
the following survey. The survey contains questions about your use of music
information materials, of the Music Library, and of the library catalog. While
we encourage full completion of the survey, you are free to skip any questions
that you prefer not to answer. It
will take approximately 10-15 minutes
to complete this survey. We will not collect your name or any
identifying information about you if you only complete the survey.
At the end of the
survey you will be asked if you are willing to be interviewed as part of this
study. If you are, you will provide your email address, and we may contact you
to see if you are willing to meet for a 1-hour interview. If you provide
this information, following the study, your personal email information will be
The interview portion
would ask you to describe, in more detail, how you use music information for
work and leisure, what barriers you encounter when searching for music
information, and your personal processes when searching for music information. The
interview will take place at a time and place convenient to you. With your
consent, the interview will be captured using an audio recording device and the
file will be stored in a secure location for one month before it is discarded.
If you do not wish to be recorded, you may still participate in the interview,
but you will not be recorded.
Taking part in this research study is completely
voluntary. If you do not wish to
participate in this study, please return
the survey without answering any of the questions.
