Music Information Survey

We invite you to participate in a research study being conducted by investigators from the University of Iowa.  The purpose of the study is to understand the information needs and behavior of the members of the music department at the University of Iowa.

If you agree to participate, we would like you to complete the following survey. The survey contains questions about your use of music information materials, of the Music Library, and of the library catalog. While we encourage full completion of the survey, you are free to skip any questions that you prefer not to answer. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete this survey. We will not collect your name or any identifying information about you if you only complete the survey.

At the end of the survey you will be asked if you are willing to be interviewed as part of this study. If you are, you will provide your email address, and we may contact you to see if you are willing to meet for a 1-hour interview. If you provide this information, following the study, your personal email information will be destroyed securely.

The interview portion would ask you to describe, in more detail, how you use music information for work and leisure, what barriers you encounter when searching for music information, and your personal processes when searching for music information. The interview will take place at a time and place convenient to you. With your consent, the interview will be captured using an audio recording device and the file will be stored in a secure location for one month before it is discarded. If you do not wish to be recorded, you may still participate in the interview, but you will not be recorded.

Taking part in this research study is completely voluntary.  If you do not wish to participate in this study, please return the survey without answering any of the questions.
